#293-Cliff Barackman, Finding Bigfoot

We have had some great guests this year, so our next guest has some big shoes to fill, or should we say BigFeet??? Tonight’s guest is Cliff Barackman, a researcher from the TV Series “Finding Bigfoot”. Cliff tells us what drew him into the field of Sasquatch exploration. We chat about filming the show and meeting his wife, some of the many adventures he has been on, how close has he come to seeing Bigfoot, and his thoughts on other mystical creatures. Sometimes, genuine conversation brightens your day.  After a bad day, our day was brightened by talking to Toby Philpott. Toby is an English puppeteer, best known for his work in motion picture animatronics during the 1980s in such films as The Dark Crystal and Return of the Jedi.Toby was insightful, genuine, and hilarious.  We talk about everything from puppeteering  Jabba the Hutt, Toby's early career in street performance, and what it was like to work for Jim Henson.  Such a fascinating interview.

#289-Coach Jim Johnson Returns

We are joined by returning guest, Coach Jim Johnson.  You may remember clips of Coach Johnson on ESPN when he put his autistic manager, J-Mac into a basketball game and he shot the light out.  Since then, Coach has gone on to become an accomplished author, motivational speaker, and advocate for inclusion.  We discuss Jim's work with teaching leadership, we get an update on J-Mac, and we talk basketball.  Have a listen!

Oh, no big deal,we are just chatting with legends today. We have the pleasure of talking with Doug "Cosmo" Clifford, drummer for the one and only Creedence Clearwater Revival.  We talked about everything from the early days of Creedence, to playing 25 years with Revisited, what Woodstock was like, and more.  We also talk about Doug's re release of his  album,  Magic Window, a solo album he recorded in 1985 and updated in 2020 on April 17, 2020.  Doug was open, passionate, and a true honor to interview.  Check it out!

Today we will be talking with Kathi Tait, AKA The Bald Warrior. Kathi is an author, speaker, & transformative coach. Kathi will be discussing her struggles growing up after a family tragedy and developing Alopecia that led her in starting the Bald Warrior Movement to educate people on fighting social norms surrounding body image. We discuss when she gained her confidence, illness stereotypes, love of educating audiences, and her sweet dragon tattoo on the side of her head.  Check her out!

#286-John Bramblitt, Blind Artist

 Today, we are joined by blind artist, John Bramblitt.  John was a simply, amazing guest.  John lost his eyesight years ago, but carried on to make some truly amazing art. John Bramblitt is ranked as the #1 blind painter in the world and is currently the only blind muralist in the world [1] with murals in New York and Dallas. He began painting after losing his sight in 2001 after a series of severe seizures. He fell into a deep depression until he found painting Listen to hear all about how John adapted to his disability, the evolution of his art, and the amazing things he’s done since.  Please go check out his art and his story.

  We are joined by make up and special effects legend, Howard Berger.  Howard's resume is undeniably amazing.  Whether it's the Walking Dead,  Breaking Bad,  the Chronicles of Narnia, Kill Bill, countless legendary horror movies, or even the upcoming Space Jam 2, Howard's fingerprints are all over these films.  Howard was funny, smart, and had endless amazing bits of conversation ranging from his origins, advice to young kids trying to break into the SFX world, to opening KNB EFX Group with Greg Nicotero.  Truly, this is one of the best interviews we have done.  Check it out.

Today, Verbal Shenanigans morphs into a true crimepodcast on a very special episode. Today, we chat with Jenny Carrieri as she tells us her heart felt story about Jody LeCornu, her twin sister, being murdered. She gives details about the facts of the case, the issues in the investigation, and why after 24 years the case is still open. We discuss Jenny’s feelings on the law enforcement, the rumors on what could have occurred, and her continued work to try and close this case (including taking an idea from Three Billboards). This was an amazing discussion on a family tragedy.

We have a fantastic episode for you today.  We are joined by former WBO  boxing champion Michael Bentt.  Michael, star of Netflix's documentary series, Losers, was open, extremely honest, and absolutely fascinating. Michael describes his dislike of boxing, being pushed by his overbearing father, and what it was like to succeed at something, without loving it.  Michael also talks about his victory of Tommy Morrison, being Evander Holyfield's sparring partner, and moving on to the world of acting.  Michael would later play Sonny Liston in Ali, work with Clint Eastwood, and much much more.  Have a listen!
